- I was looking at the scaled-down Borland/Turbo (I think it called
- Borland C++, but, I'm not sure) C++ v4.5 for Windows in a local
- retailers the other day. The product sells for about $130 CDN if that
- helps to identify it.
-
- It was clear from reading the box that this product can only be used
- to develop 16-bit Windows applications, but, what I need to know is:
- Can I use a DOS development environment (i.e. command-line compiler)
- to generate my 16-bit Windows applications?
-
- I'm currently using the full-blown (DOS/WIN16/WIN32) Borland C++ v4.0
- at work to develop an embedded systems machine vision application.
- The image acquisition/processing hardware has either a TMS320C30 or
- TMS320C40 on-board which forces me to do most of my development on a
- command-line based cross-compiler and I'd prefer to do it all in the
- same environment.
-
- Ya da ya da ya da... the long and the short of it is that I want to
- purchase the tools to work at home and I'm not prepared to shell out
- $450 CDN for the full-blown package.
-
- Anyone out there have the scaled-down version? Any help appreciated.
